This Month's CU Spotlight: BrightStar Credit Union

For June’s Credit Union Spotlight, we turn to BrightStar Credit Union in Lauderhill, Florida. Since 1946, BrightStar has been serving members in Broward County, Florida, and we were happy to sit down with their Member Outreach Specialist Joyce Gaines to talk about their success with the Sprint program from LMCUR.

Every credit union has different ways of promoting Sprint to their members, and Joyce tells us that  “[w]e find that offering a combination of 'fun', money saving products along with our usual credit union products and services (i.e. checking accounts, auto loans, credit cards etc.), encourage our members to visit various credit union website pages.”

BrightStar recently had a great experience partnering with their local Sprint store. According to Joyce: “Our Sprint – BrightStar day was a huge success. We had tables set up in the lobby of the Broward County School board building in downtown Fort Lauderdale – any large SEG would work. Our brightly colored tables with giveaways drew attention from employees coming and going. Not only did Sprint sign up a few new accounts, but the credit union did too. Even though we have a full-service branch in the same building, employees get focused on their daily tasks and never find the time to stop by the branch. Having us right in front of them did the trick. Yet again, another way credit unions help their members save!”
